Is 9K gold good quality for lab-grown diamond jewelry?

Yes. 9K gold contains 37.5 percent pure gold mixed with durable alloys, making it harder than 14K or 18K gold. This added hardness helps protect prongs and keeps diamonds securely set through years of daily wear.

Does 9K gold affect the diamond quality?

No. Gold karat only affects the metal setting, not the diamond. Every MadisonDia stone, regardless of 9K, 14K, or 18K setting, meets the same D color, VVS clarity, 3EX cut, and IGI certification standard.

What is the difference between 9K, 14K, and 18K gold?

The karat number reflects the percentage of pure gold: 9K is 37.5 percent, 14K is 58.5 percent, and 18K is 75 percent. Lower karat gold contains more alloy, making it harder and more resistant to bending, while higher karat gold has a deeper tone but is comparatively softer.

Is 9K gold certified by IGI?

IGI certifies the diamond, not the gold setting. Every diamond used in MadisonDia 9K jewelry carries its own IGI certificate, which is emailed for review before the order ships.

How do I verify my diamond's IGI certificate?

Enter the report number from your certificate directly on the official IGI website at igi.org. The listed specifications should match the diamond you received.

Why Choose 9K Gold for Lab-Grown Diamond Jewelry

DURABILITY

Harder Than 14K or 18K

At 37.5% pure gold, 9K is mixed with a higher ratio of durable alloys, making it harder than higher-karat gold. Prongs resist bending, and your diamond is less likely to loosen over years of daily wear.

VALUE

Accessible Without Compromising Grading

Gold karat affects metal cost and hand-feel only — never diamond quality. Every 9K piece carries the same D/VVS/3EX/IGI standard as our 18K collection.
